This is probably from a stripper website. This is totally reminiscent of pre-crazy Britney Spears when she was HAWT HAWT HAWT. And I recall reading an interview when she was wearing this suit and shot the video she was really really hot. When she danced and threw her arms to the side, sweat would drip out. With a shoot in June, I'm not sure if I would be a happy cat in this suit. Also at $50.00, it's a bit pricey.
It DOES look amazing and it's a serious ass kicking outfit so it's not completely totally ruled out.
Oops! I Did It Again! I shall include this video because it is so awesome:
(I imagine at 1:12 when the sweat really flies...)
When I came across this I IM'd Josiah and for a full hour we thought about completely changing the script to having Karin and Kai be mermaids. Because this suit is BRILLIANT. Albeit nightmare and panic inducing.
I called my friend/neighbor/costumer designer, Kristi Fraser who is a former active wear designer. With great humor and so much fun, we talked about the characters, the story, the budget and the colors. I showed her my sketches and talked about my issues (sweating...how I'm not good with numbers) and she really had great input. She emailed me a ton of references and we got cracking.
So today I went to American Apparel. It's like a Staples store to me. Once I'm in there I can't leave without buying something. I LOVE THAT STORE.
It also dawned on me that if the costume gets damaged I would be able to have a few on hand at a lower cost. The color of the fabric is called lapis which is based on a gemstone from Arabian Nights. The cuffs and logo are added with Photoshop. As was that amazingly heavy exercise ball that I appear to be holding.
Anyway, let me know what you think, yea? Nay? I'll be honest. It's starting to grow on me.
Shout out to Austin at American Apparel and the girl with the long, wavy hair!
Update: Josiah's comments: It's more "pretty" than superhero-y, I just think it's not yet "over the top"
not in a dumb way, just in a superhero way
